From http://www.hindu.com/2006/12/12/stories/2006121218630300.htm

The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association, Madurai district, has resolved to go in for "district-wide agitation" if the inspection of Primary Health Centres by Village Administrative Officers and `thalayaris,' under the orders of Collector, continued.

At its general body meeting here on Monday, it registered its protest at the inspection by VAOs.

It appealed to the Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi, to intervene. In a statement released here on Monday, it expressed its support to the doctors in Sivaganga. All the PHCs in Madurai district were inspected on Thursday and Friday by VAOs and `thalayaris,' who checked the attendance of the doctors. — Staff Reporter
